THE GEISHA STORY

Bossons creator Fred Wright sculptured the Bossons pieces known as Geisha. There are two models, and each is painted in different colours. A couple of ‘specially painted’ Geisha’s are in the hands of collectors-
Possibly these were painted by the artists for their own collection. One such Geisha is reported to be
painted according to Fred Wrights original design with beautiful Japanese cherry blossom artwork on her outfit and her parasol. I think she would have been one of the most sought after Bossons pieces if all Geisha pieces had been finished as beautifully as this original design.

At the Bossons conferences we have a lot of fun dressing up as Bossons characters of our choice. There are some very innovative clever people amongst the Bossons collectors and the costume parade is well attended and a favourite part of the conference for both participants and members.

In 1998 at the conference in Nashville I became “Geisha”- being the winner in my Geisha outfit of the 2nd model Geisha…this will have some of you getting your Bossons books out !! - do I hear you say ‘which one is that’.
At later conferences I was Geisha lst model and Geisha ‘specially painted model’- I’m not sure if I was the winner again- I was there for the fun. I made all the outfits and head pieces, painted the parasols and took on a bigger challenge than I realised when I painted the design on the fabric for the ‘specially painted Geisha’ - copying the design from photographs sent to me by another collector.

So I became known as Geisha- but who is Geisha?

I attended my first conference in Burbank in 1997- I had so much fun, met so many beautiful people, and became one of the Bossons ‘family’ attending the annual conferences since then- the next Bossons conference is 2006-Oklahoma City- I’ll be there….where will you be? Come and join us- when people attend for the first time they wonder if they should come, after one meeting they come back as often as they can -some every year- yes its that good.!!!!

I have been an avid Bossons collector since 1996 with an extensive personal collection and a large quantity of Bossons in excellent condition and/or mint in box, for sale to other collectors. I am a member of IBCS (International Bossons Collectors Society) since 1997, have had the pleasure of being a convention speaker at 4 conferences, I have travelled to Congleton visited the Bossons factory. I have watched paintresses skillfully change boring white moulds into beautifully painted pieces with character.

I am conversant with Bossons products and the pieces I offer are of highest standard. I am also experienced in packing Bossons & sending them overseas so your chosen piece arrives undamaged.

I am known to the Directors (past and present) of IBCS and its members. I live in Australia on the eastern coast- its the birthplace of Queensland- called Town of 1770 a paradise of a spot where Lt James Cook stepped ashore in 1770. I can’t believe he left our warmth and sunshine for the dreary winter weather of England. Perhaps Bossons wanted his photos of the aborigines to make a plaque or two.
